In August 2023, Drew Wallace became Black Hawk College’s first-ever athletic trainer. His role includes overseeing and managing sports-related injuries for all eight of the college’s intercollegiate sports.
Wallace graduated from Western Illinois University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. He was offered a job as an athletic trainer in the secondary school setting immediately after completing his internship and graduating from WIU. After three years of athletic training work in the secondary school setting, he decided to move closer to his hometown of Princeton, IL. He continued his work as an athletic trainer in the secondary and post-secondary school setting in the Illinois Valley area.
Athletic training is more than just a job to Wallace. It’s what he is passionate about and strives to be the best at it every day.
